COSTA MESA, Calif. — LSU men’s tennis fall season kicks off on Friday when seniors Neal Skupski and Mark Bowtell and freshman standout Chris Simpson travel to compete in the USTA Futures Qualifying Tournament in Costa Mesa, Calif.
Skupski, ranked 31st in the 2011 preseason ITA rankings, will lead the way for the Tigers with 53 career wins under his belt.
With an overall tournament record of 7-4, Bowtell will be looked to as a senior leader this weekend.
Simpson, who redshirted last season, looks to break into the starting lineup and knows that this tournament provides that opportunity.
“The guys have been working really hard and are ready and excited to get everything going with the tournament this weekend,” LSU assistant coach Danny Bryan said. “We are looking forward to getting some wins and building off the confidence we gained from this summer.”
The tournament will take place at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center. The schedule of play has not yet been announced.
