BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s tennis team opens the 2011-12 season Friday as part of the team travels to the Gopher Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. and another part travels to the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas.
Rebecca Bodine, Paige Bahnsen, Hayley Everett and Kaitlin Burns will travel to Minneapolis with Head Coach Tony Minnis while Whitney Wolf, Olivia Howlett, Ariel Morton and Yvette Vlaar will be led by Assistant Coach Lisa Jackson in Midland.
Wolf was recently ranked at No. 52 in the initial 2011 Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason rankings. She’s seeded first in the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational.
Wolf has 49 career wins to her name including 14 career victories against nationally ranked opponents. She finished last season ranked fourth in the ITA southern region.
“It’s always interesting to see how the freshmen (Bahnsen and Bodine) will react to their first college competition,” Minnis said.
“The girls have been working hard and I am looking forward to seeing how they compete at the first tournament of the year,” Jackson said.
