BATON ROUGE – LSU women’s tennis senior Whitney Wolf opens the season at No. 52 in the initial 2011 Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason rankings, the ITA announced Tuesday.
Wolf, a native of Pride, La., moved ahead 23 spots from her final ranking of the 2011 spring season.
Wolf brings 14 career wins against nationally ranked opponents into her final campaign to go along with 49 career wins. She finished last season ranked fourth in the ITA southern region.
She will also compete in doubles this fall with partner Kaitlin Burns. The duo won five matches a year ago and ranked fifth in the southern region.
The Lady Tigers begin their fall campaign this weekend as they travel to both the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas and the Gopher Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn.
Rebecca Bodine, Paige Bahnsen, Hayley Everett and Kaitlin Burns will travel to Minneapolis with head coach Tony Minnis, while Wolf, Olivia Howlett, Ariel Morton and Yvette Vlaar will be led by Assistant Coach Lisa Jackson in Midland.
