BATON ROUGE — LSU Men’s Tennis senior Neal Skupski and junior Olivier Borsos appeared Monday in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) 2011 Campbell/ITA Preseason Rankings in both doubles and singles play.
Skupski checked in at No. 31 in singles while Borsos earned the No. 105 ranking, and the duo received the No. 31 spot in doubles.
Last season Skupski finished 87th in the singles rankings with a 15-19 overall record and three wins against nationally-ranked opponents.
Borsos ended the 2010 season with 19 singles wins, second most on the team, and he also earned three wins against ranked players.
In doubles, Skupski teamed with Sebastian Carlsson to post a 29-12 record and finished 10th in the rankings last season. Skupski became just the second player in LSU men’s tennis history to be named a two-time doubles All-American, joining former Tiger Michal Chmela who did it in 1998 and 2000.
Borsos tallied the second most doubles victories with 18 a year ago. He and Skupski have never played together.
LSU opens up its fall season Friday when Skupski, Mark Bowtell and Chris Simpson travel to the USTA Futures Qualifying Tournament in Costa Mesa, Calif.
