BATON ROUGE – LSU student-athletes began the 2011-12 academic year with a fun-filled evening Sunday the annual Back to School Bash held at the Carl Maddox Field House hosted by soccer’s Mo Isom and baseball’s Beau Didier.

The event welcomed the student-athletes back to campus with food and games.

“This is a great way for student-athletes to interact with each other especially for those who are on different teams,” LSU Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva said in remarks which began the evening. “I think we’re going to have a great year.”

Isom hosted the event last year and she was joined by Didier this year.

“This is a great event because it signifies the family that all the student-athletes are through coming together and having a good time,” Didier said.

Isom said she had a great time hosting with Didier and called it the “Mo and Beau show.”

“We like to have fun with it and make people laugh,” Isom said. “Our fellow student-athletes can be a tough crowd, but they got warmed up and going after the games started.”

Didier said he enjoyed many of the games through the event but his favorite was the dance-off at the end of the night. Women’s basketball’s Krystal Forthan took on football’s Anthony Johnson in a battle of highly-recruited freshman.

Forthan was the first to take the floor and turned quite a few heads, but Johnson wowed the crowd after being joined by soccer’s Emily Cancienne and Tiger Girl Lauren Cook.

Johnson called his winning dance the “squat back.”

“Anthony really broke it down,” Isom said. “He took it to a whole new level.”

Didier said he felt the squat back could be the next dance to make “So You Think You Can Dance.”
