BATON ROUGE – One LSU women’s golf finished her play in a major event this past week and now another takes the state to represent LSU as senior-to-be Tessa Teachman of Baton Rouge will be part of the United States women’s team in the 26th World University Summer Games this week in Shenzhen, China.
Teachman and four other college golfers will represent the USA in women’s individual and team competition. While all five will play individual competition three players will play in a three-count two system for a team championship. Both competitions are 72 holes.
The tournament begins Wednesday in China, late Tuesday night Baton Rouge time.
Diane Thomason, the head coach of the University of Iowa women’s golf team, is the American head coach. Teachman is joined on the team by Catherine O’Donnell of North Carolina, Caroline Powers of Michigan State, Brooke Beeler of TCU and Emily Talley of Colorado.
Teachman was part of the LSU team that put together the best ever finish of third in the 2011 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships this past May in Bryan, Texas.
