BATON ROUGE – LSU men’s basketball assistant coach Lynn Nance will be inducted next month in the 2011 class of the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association Hall of Fame.
The ceremony will take place on June 9 at the Downtown Marriott in Kansas City, Mo.
Nance is one of four being inducted for their accomplishments at the University of Central Missouri.
Nance, the UCM men’s basketball coach from 1980-85, led the Mules to the 1984 NCAA Division II National Championship and posted a 114-35 overall record (.765) in five years. He won 20 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in each of his five seasons, earning National Coach of the Year with a 29-3 mark during his fourth season.
Joining him in the induction class are the members of his 1984 men’s basketball team along with the 1984 Central Missouri women’s team. It was the first time in NCAA history that men’s and women’s basketball teams from the same school won national championships in the same year, on the same floor, and on the same night.
