BATON ROUGE – The LSU volleyball team plays host to its spring tournament Saturday at the Maravich Center. Admission is free as the Tigers have matches scheduled with Auburn, Nicholls State and ULL.

LSU won three of its four matches at the Inaugural Texas Pride Collegiate Invitational last weekend in Houston. The Tigers emerged with a pair of hard-fought three set victories over Houston and Wichita State. LSU also swept Oklahoma before falling to Texas A&M.

“Last weekend was a great starting point for our team,” head coach Fran Flory said. “We were able to identify areas of strength and areas we need to make some improvements on both the offensive and defensive side of the net. The goal for the upcoming weekend is to focus on our offensive efficiency.  This week at practice we have worked to increase the speed of our offense, and we hope to be able to put that into play on Saturday.”

In addition to AVCA All-South Region Honorable Mention pick Michele Williams and All-SEC First-Team performer Desiree Elliott, LSU brings back all three members of its back row that racked up an efficient 65 percent sideout clip over its 20 SEC matches.

Lauren Waclawczyk scooped up 4.05 digs per set to rank sixth in the SEC. She finished last season with 17 straight matches with 10 or more digs.  Sam Delahoussaye and Meghan Mannari combined to add 26 double digit dig performances as the duo has garnered over 2.45 scoops per set.

LSU compiled a 25-5 mark in 2010, and the Tigers also are one of only 18 programs nationally to qualify for the last six NCAA Tournaments dating back to the 2005 season.
