BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s tennis team continues its six-match homestand when it hosts a doubleheader against Colorado and Southern on Wednesday at W.T. “Dub” Robinson Stadium.

The Colorado match is scheduled for 3 p.m. CDT with the matchup against Southern following at 7 p.m.

The Lady Tigers (7-7, 3-1 SEC) are coming off having their five-match win streak snapped on Friday against No. 23 Tulsa. Colorado (3-9, 0-3 Big 12) heads to Baton Rouge in the midst of a six-match losing streak. Southern enters Wednesday’s action following a successful weekend in which the Jaguars went 3-0 at the SWAC West/West Roundup in Prairie View, Texas.

“Colorado has played us tough every time we have faced them,” said LSU women’s tennis coach Tony Minnis. “We must come out ready to play and continue to compete at the level we have been recently. Southern always has a great team, so we need to be ready for them.”

Freshman Kristina Schleich guides the Buffaloes in singles play. The Lilienthal, Germany, native has posted a 7-5 singles record this spring while playing out of the No. 1-4 positions after going 8-8 during the fall season.

Michala Hedelund Jensen led Colorado with an 11-4 record over the fall season. However, after beginning the spring with a 4-2 singles record, the junior has lost four-consecutive matches to drop her current record to 4-6.

Hedelund Jensen and Buffalo senior Abbie Probert propel Colorado in doubles action. Despite a 3-6 record while playing at the No. 1 post, the Buffalo tandem is 2-0 at the No. 2 slot and is tied for a team-high five doubles wins this spring.

LSU continues to be led by sophomore Ebie Wilson. The Mobile, Ala., product has put together a five-match winning streak in singles play and has won 10 of her last 11 matches. In her 10 wins this spring, only once has she been taken to a deciding third set.

After getting off to a slow start this spring, sophomore Keri Frankenberger has won four-consecutive matches. She enters Wednesday’s match against Colorado fresh off defeating Tulsa’s Ewa Szatkowska 6-4, 6-3 in her last outing.

Frankenberger teams with freshman Yvette Vlaar on the doubles court for the Lady Tigers. The duo is 6-1 this spring while playing out of the No. 1 and 2 positions.

LSU leads the all-time series with Colorado 3-0. The schools last met in 2009 when the Lady Tigers came away with a 5-2 victory in Boulder. Meanwhile LSU improved its series record against Southern to 18-0 with last season’s 7-0 home defeat of the Jaguars.

Following play on Wednesday, LSU returns to SEC play when the Lady Tigers host No. 7 Georgia on Friday at 3 p.m.
