BATON ROUGE – After posting its second 196 score of the season last week against New Hampshire the LSU gymnastics team received a boost in its regional qualifying score (RQS) and moved up two positions to No. 22 in the newest rankings released Monday by GymInfo.
LSU (3-8, 0-5 Southeastern Conference) improved its RQS to 195.050 after dropping the 194.875 scored at home against Arkansas on Feb. 11.
It marked the 523rd straight week that LSU has appeared in the top 25, a streak dating back to Feb. 26, 2001.
LSU’s next opponent, Alabama, jumped Stanford for No. 2 in the national rankings with a 196.915 RQS. The Tigers will take on the Crimson Tide at 7:30 p.m. CT in Coleman Coliseum Friday.
In the event rankings, LSU ranked 19th on vault with a 49.005 RQS, 24th on bars with a 48.800 RQS and tied for 22nd with Nebraska on beam with a 48.655 score.
Individually, freshman Sarie Morrison continued to represent the Tigers in the rankings as she checked in at No. 21 in the vault standings with a 9.870 RQS and No. 22 on bars with a 9.860 RQS.
