BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – LSU junior right-hander Brittany Mack picked up SEC Pitcher of the Week honors Monday as announced by the league’s office. It’s the first career SEC weekly award for Mack.
During her lone start at the Purple & Gold Challenge, Mack racked up 11 strikeouts against zero walks to compile a two-hit shutout versus Hofstra, a 2010 NCAA Tournament participant. The Round Rock, Texas, native retired the first 20 hitters she faced and fired a career-best nine innings.
After Alex Boulet‘s walkoff RBI single, Mack earned the win during head coach Yvette Girouard‘s 500th win at LSU.
The Tigers roll into SEC play Wednesday as No. 2 Florida visits Tiger Park. First pitch for the doubleheader is set for 5 p.m. and will be broadcasted live on ESPN 104.5 and The X 104.9 FM with Patrick Wright on the call.
