BATON ROUGE – LSU freshman golfer Austin Ernst was named the national women’s college golfer of the week on Tuesday by GolfWeek and Golf Digest for her win for the Lady Tigers in last week’s Central District Invitational.
The Seneca, S.C., native shot 72-69-72 for a 3-under 213 total and a one-shot victory over TCU’s Brooke Beeler at the Central District event in Parrish, Fla. Ernst had trailed Beeler by three shots entering the final round before rallying for her first college title. In the process, she became the 14th player in school history to win an individual title.
