BATON ROUGE – The Boston Celtics are giving LSU fans more reason to keep an eye on the NBA team as the team called up former LSU center Chris Johnson for a 10-day contract that began on Thursday.
With the Celtics making a trade that involved three of their big men — Kendrick Perkins, Semih Erden and Luke Harangody – the team was left thin up front for the immediate future. Johnson, who earned D-League All-Star honors playing for the Dakota Wizards, was called up and played immediately last night backing up LSU’s Glen Davis.
Johnson, who will wear No. 86, played almost 17 minutes with six points and three blocked shots.
The members of the 2009 SEC Championship team previously had a 10-day call up to the NBA with the Portland Trailblazers.
