Get Set for a Big Week in Basketball Promotions

BATON ROUGE – LSU men’s basketball is at home for two games this week with ticket giveaways, two special halftime acts and a basketball coloring contest for kids.

LSU hosts Western Division leader Alabama on Thursday night at 8 p.m. at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center and then hosts Eastern Division leader Florida at noon on Sunday. Both games will be televised as part of the “SEC on ESPN” series of network games. Carter Blackburn and lead SEC analyst Jimmy Dykes will be on hand for Thursday’s game.

One of the most popular and often requested halftime acts returns to men’s basketball this year with “Quick Change” taking to the floor on Sunday to perform their magical routine of clothing changes that still has people shaking their heads even after seeing it time and time again. “Quick Change” is presented by Capital One Bank.

Thursday’s halftime will be another back by popular demand, Krystal The Red Panda acrobat presented by Peoples Health.

Also Thursday’s game has been designated a “Student Point Game” in which students will earn points for next season football ticket priority by showing their LSU ID at the gate, getting it scanned and attending the game. Admission to the game for LSU students is free with their ID. One student will win a free ticket to the Cowboys Classic football game between LSU and Oregon to open the 2011 season. Also the popular student lounge will be open prior to the game with food and drinks courtesy of Acme Oyster House.

Also at Thursday’s Alabama game, two pairs of club tickets to the LSU baseball season opener Friday night against Wake Forest at Alex Box Stadium will be awarded to two basketball season ticket holders who are in attendance at the game.

Sunday’s game will also feature a student ticket giveaway for the Cowboys Classic and the Acme Oyster House Student Lounge. LSU Athletics is also still accepting entries for the LSU Basketball Coloring Contest for Kids (ages 3-12) in which each entry receives a free ticket to the LSU-Florida basketball game. Entries are due no later than this Wednesday and blanks can be found at http://bit.ly/lsucolor (.pdf). Prizes will be awarded on Sunday in various age divisions.

Also Sunday is Boy Scout Day in which Boy Scouts and their families can purchase discounted tickets and each scout in uniform will receive an LSU Basketball mini hoop if they stop by the Fan Zone during the game. Scouts should contact their troop leader or the LSU marketing and promotions office for further details.

Tickets for both games are on sale at LSUTix.net starting at $15 for adults and $5 for kids (ages 3-12). Tickets are also available at the LSU Athletics Ticket Office and will go on sale at the PMAC at 6:30 p.m. for the Thursday LSU-Alabama game and at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday for the LSU-Florida contest.
