BATON ROUGE – LSU gymnasts Ericka Garcia, Maliah Mathis, Shelby Prunty and Sidney Sanabria-Robles cheered up patients at a local hospital on Sunday as part of the Geaux Givers program.

The gymnasts signed and handed out posters to the patients and their families while spending time with the kids to cheer them up.

“It feels really good to come see the kids faces light up when they see us,” freshman Sanabria-Robles said. “In that way we know we have helped them and hopefully made their day. We also let them know we’re here for them and that they can count on us.”

Garcia added, “Coming to the hospital and seeing the faces of the kids is a feeling that warms my heart. It feels great to give back to the kids, and we love to spend time with them and hopefully brighten their day.”

LSU will take on Georgia at 7 p.m. Friday in the Fourth Annual Etta James Memorial Meet in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
