BATON ROUGE – Amidst a whirlwind few days that saw the team move its scheduled home opener against Texas Tech to New Orleans, the LSU women’s tennis team now travels to College Station, Texas, to take on No. 34 Texas A&M on Sunday at 1 p.m. CST.

The match was originally scheduled to be played Saturday at 1 p.m., but weather conditions forced the match to be pushed back to Sunday.

Texas A&M recently upset then-No. 32 Tulsa before losing to No. 6 Duke at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Durham, N.C. LSU enters the match after dropping its season opener to Texas Tech on Thursday.

“Texas A&M has always been a great rival of ours,” said LSU women’s tennis coach Tony Minnis. “We have always had very intense matches against them. It is always a great environment when we play them in College Station, so hopefully we will be up for the challenge.”

The Aggies are led by Nazari Urbina, ranked No. 17 in the latest ITA singles rankings. The Aggie sophomore is coming off beating No. 25 Nadine Fahoum of Duke in a three-set thriller last weekend.

However, Urbina recently competed in the 2011 Fed Cup for her home country of Mexico. With her final match in Buenos Aires, Argentina, taking place Friday, it is unknown whether she will be available for Sunday’s match against the Lady Tigers.

Assuming Urbina plays, LSU junior Whitney Wolf will likely get the task of facing the Aggie star in what would be a Top 35 showdown. The No. 33 Wolf defeated Texas Tech’s Elizabeth Ullathorne in three sets on Thursday.

In addition to Urbina, Texas A&M’s Morgan Frank is also nationally ranked, coming in at No. 102 in the latest ITA singles rankings. Frank lost a two-setter to Blue Devil and No. 4 Reka Zsilinszka in her last match.

The Aggies lead the all-time series 20-13 including a 6-1 victory last year in Baton Rouge.
