BATON ROUGE – After a posting a season-high 195.550 at the Metroplex Challenge last week, the LSU gymnastics team jumped one spot to No. 24 in the rankings released Monday by GymInfo.
LSU (1-5) jumped Denver in the rankings as the Tigers increased their season average to 194.344.
LSU also moved into the beam rankings as a team. The Tigers remained 10th on vault with a 48.969 average, and they checked in at No. 21 on beam with a team average of 48.413.
Individually, coming off the best meet of her young career, freshman Sarie Morrison jumped into the bars top 25 in a tie for No. 22 with a 9.825 average.
The national top five saw little movement as Florida remained No. 1 with a 196.906 average, followed by Stanford at No. 2 with a 196.550 mark. Utah leapt Georgia for third at 196.075 with the Gym Dogs right behind at 196.060. Oklahoma rounded out the top five at 195.860.
The Tigers next opponent, BYU, sits just outside the top 25 at No. 27. LSU will take on BYU at 7 p.m. Friday inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Tickets are still on sale at www.LSUtix.net or by calling 1-800-960-8587.
