Men’s Tennis Drops Opener to No. 15 Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas -The 45th-ranked LSU men’s tennis team fell to No. 15 Texas Tech 4-0 on Saturday at the McLeod Tennis Center as part the third annual ITA Kick-off weekend.

The Tigers (0-1) dropped the early doubles point and the Red Raiders (3-0) continued their momentum into singles play to put the match away.

“Texas Tech did a good job of capturing the momentum early,” LSU head coach Jeff Brown said. “In singles we had a few spots where we started to get it together, but we had too many matches where we fell too far behind. They are a strong team, but we are going to reload and come ready to play tomorrow.”

The LSU doubles pair of Olivier Borsos and Roger Anderson earned an 8-3 victory on court two, but the Tigers were unable to close out on courts one or three to clinch the doubles point.

In singles action Borsos narrowly dropped the first set to Texas Tech’s Raony Carvalho 6-4, but Carvalho pulled away in the second set to clinch the victory on court two.

The Tigers look to bounce back tomorrow at 11 a.m. CST against SEC West foe Auburn, who lost to Cal 4-2 in the second match of the day.
