February Basketball Promotions, Ticket Specials

BATON ROUGE – LSU basketball fans will enjoy a full calendar of promotional events and ticket specials the next six weeks that will bring the likes of Quick Change and Red Panda back to the Maravich Center while providing ticket discounts and incentives to attendees of the Bayou Recruiting Bash, area school children, LSU faculty and staff as well as LSU students.

After playing just two home games in the month of January, the LSU men’s basketball team will play six conference home games in February and the first week of March, including four of the next six playing dates starting Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. against South Carolina.

The game will feature a special ticket promotion in conjunction with the “Bayou Bash” recruiting party earlier in the day at the Baton Rouge River Center. Those with Bash tickets can purchase tickets for the men’s basketball game that night for just $5.  An LSU ticket representative will be on hand to sell tickets or tickets may be redeemed by showing your Bash ticket at the upper concourse ticket windows of the Maravich Center on game night.

Also that game will mark “Student Point Night” in which students that attend the basketball game can earn priority points that add up for tickets for LSU athletic events including away football and bowl games. One student that night will also win a $1,000 scholarship to use to fund their education. LSU students are admitted free to all LSU men’s basketball games with their student ID and for each of the remaining home games the student lounge will be open on the upper concourse with food and drink provided by sponsor Acme Oyster House.

LSU hosts Mississippi State in a 3 p.m. game on Saturday, Feb 5, and five students in attendance will receive certificates for a large pizza from Rotolos as part of a Super Bowl Eve Pizza Giveaway. Also for this game all LSU faculty and staff can show their University IDs and purchase up to four tickets for $1 each for the game.

At halftime, will be Peter Rabbit The Bucket Drummer, who will bring the raw energy of his craft that made him the star of the Tony-Award winning show “Bringin The Noise, Bringin The Funk”

After a week on the road, the Tigers return home for a special Thursday-Sunday week of games that will be televised on ESPN or ESPN2, starting with a Feb. 17 game with Alabama at 8 p.m. That game will be another important Priority Point Night for LSU students. Halftime will feature Krystal, the Red Panda Acrobat and her balancing act while on a giant unicycle.

Then on Sunday (Feb. 20) at Noon, there will be a coloring contest for kids that will allow kids to win prizes and turn in their sheet for free admission (For further information on the contest, check out www.LSUsports.net/promotions). At halftime, will be the most requested for and most popular halftime act ever at LSU basketball games – “Quick Change,” featuring David and Dania.

Details are still being finalized for the last two home games of the season on Feb. 26 against Vanderbilt and March 5 against Auburn. The Vanderbilt game will serve as “Fan Appreciation Day” with a performance by the LSU Cheerleaders and Cheer Alumni at halftime.

The halftime performance for the March 5 game will be the famous “Zooperstars” who will appear for the first time the night before (March 4) at Alex Box Stadium at the LSU baseball game and then during and at halftime of the men’s basketball game as part of their tour of over 200 events in 2011.
