Women’s Tennis Picked Fourth in SEC West

BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team was voted to finish fourth in the SEC Western Division by the league’s coaches, the SEC office announced Monday.

Alabama was selected to finish first in the West, receiving 65 points immediately followed by Ole Miss with 64 points. Arkansas, Auburn, LSU and Mississippi State rounded out the rest of the Western Division.

2010 NCAA runner-up Florida was picked to win the SEC Eastern Division as well as the overall league title. The Gators garnered 72 points and were followed in the SEC East by Georgia which received 58 points. Tennessee was selected to finish third, trailed by Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Kentucky.

The preseason poll is voted on by each respective coaching group and is based on a 6-5-4-3-2-1 count. The complete tally for the polls is below.

LSU will open its spring dual-match season Feb. 2 with home matches against Texas Tech at 12 p.m. and Prairie View A&M at 5 p.m. All home matches are free to attend.
