BATON ROUGE – Four members of the 45th-ranked LSU men’s tennis team will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for the SEC Indoor Championships Jan. 14-17 at the newly renovated Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center on the University of Tennessee’s campus.
Seniors Sebastian Carlsson and Julien Gauthier, junior Neal Skupski and sophomore Stefan Szacinski will compete in both singles and doubles for the Tigers at the four-day individual tournament. Carlsson and Skupski will pair up to make one double’s team while Gauthier and Szainski will make the second duo.
“We’re looking forward to playing in this tournament,” said LSU assistant coach Danny Bryan. “It’s a good way for some of the guys to gain some confidence right before we start the season.”
All four players participated in the event last year, with Carlsson and Skupski both advancing to the singles round of 16.
LSU is one of eight SEC teams that will be represented at the tournament, including host No. 3 Tennessee, No. 9 Florida, No. 11, Georgia, No. 12 Kentucky, No. 18 Ole Miss, No. 34 Alabama and No. 41 Mississippi State.
The competition kicks-off Friday morning at 7 a.m. CDT and runs throughout the weekend with both championships being held Monday morning beginning at 9 a.m.
