BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team closes out the fall season this weekend in Winston-Salem, N.C., with the Wake Forest Invitational, beginning Friday morning.
The Lady Tigers will challenge players from host Wake Forest, Tennessee, North Carolina State and Furman in the tournament, which will run through Sunday. LSU will open play Friday at 8 a.m. (CT) and will begin Saturday’s action at 7 a.m. The start time for Sunday is 8 a.m.
Junior Whitney Wolf, senior Kylie Adamek, sophomores Kaitlin Burns and Ebie Wilson and freshmen Yvette Vlaar, Ariel Morton and Hayley Everett will represent the Lady Tigers.
“We’ve had a pretty good fall, and we hope to end on a good note,” head coach Tony Minnis said. “We are very excited about this tournament in particular because it should give us some experience indoors.”
Wolf, who is currently ranked No. 122 in the national singles poll, leads the squad with a 6-3 record and has knocked off three nationally-ranked opponents thus far this season. The Pride, La., native reached the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships two weeks ago.
The freshman tandem of Vlaar and Morton also stood out at the regional in doubles competition as the duo advanced to the consolation final before falling to Auburn’s Olivia Bennet and Jackie Kasler, 8-3.
