BATON ROUGE – With the release of the final Golfstat Top 25 of the fall season on Wednesday, the LSU men’s golf team now ranks among the Top 8 teams in the country in each of the three major national polls as it looks ahead to what is sure to be a competitive spring season.
The Tigers have climbed one spot to No. 6 nationally in the final Golfstat Top 25 of the fall season, while they have also climbed up five spots to No. 8 in the final Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches’ Top 25 and one spot to No. 8 in the final Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index of the fall campaign.
In addition to earning such a lofty team ranking to end the fall season, four Tigers find themselves ranked among the nation’s Top 100 players in the latest individual rankings published by Golfstat and Golfweek.
Senior Ken Looper leads the way in the Golfweek/Sagarin Individual Player Rankings as he is ranked No. 47 nationally among collegiate golfers. He is followed in the Golfweek rankings by senior Andrew Loupe at No. 52, senior John Peterson at No. 75 and junior Sang Yi at No. 81.
Like the Golfweek/Sagarin Individual Player Rankings, four Tigers are ranked among the Top 100 players nationally by Golfstat as Loupe leads the way with a No. 49 national ranking among collegians. Looper follows at No. 62, while Peterson is ranked No. 86 and Yi is ranked No. 95 according to Golfstat.
