BATON ROUGE – The LSU Women’s Golf team, off one of their top fall campaigns ever, is ranked fourth in the country in the final fall Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association poll.
LSU received one of the 30 first place votes after a season that included a win and two second place finishes.
Alabama remains No. 1 in the poll with 21 first-place votes while UCLA (8 first place votes) is second and USC third. All of the top 10 remained in the top 10 with Duke in fifth, Purdue sixth with Virginia, Arizona, California and Georgia rounding out the top 10.
Other SEC schools in the top 25 include Vanderbilt, remaining in 11th and Arkansas moving from 20th to 13th. Auburn moved up two spots to 14th while Tennessee held its No. 17 ranking. South Carolina, Florida and Ole Miss received votes.
Tulane dropped from 13th to 15th in the final fall poll.
The spring season begins in February with the highlight for the LSU Lady Tigers the hosting of the LSU Golf Classic, the first major tournament at the newly renovated University Club in Baton Rouge. A field of 21 teams will take part in the event including 13 teams that are ranked or receiving votes in the final fall poll.
