BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s golf team took time this afternoon to visit a local hospital as part of the community service efforts of the Geaux Givers and the Shaquille O’Neal CHAMPS program.
The golfers, having completed their fall season as the No. 4 team in the country, visited Our Lady of the Lake children’s hospital on Monday. The team went to several rooms meeting and signing autographs for the patients and handing out their 2010-11 poster.
“It was really encouraging to see the kids at Our Lady of the Lake,” said senior All-American Megan McChrystal. “They are all so strong and inspiring. It is really a joy to be able to have opportunities like this as a team.”
“Anytime you give back to the community it is a great experience,” said LSU sophomore Mary Michael Maggio. “For us to get to come visit kids and have the chance to meet and connect with them is an awesome opportunity.”
