BATON ROUGE – For displaying outstanding leadership in the community, LSU soccer sophomore Natalie Ieyoub has earned a spot on the SEC Community Service Team for the first time in her collegiate career as she is one of 12 representatives on this year’s squad announced by the league office.
A native of Lake Charles, La., Ieyoub has been a leader both on and off the field throughout her career as an active participant in LSU’s community service activities in Baton Rouge and across the globe.
After traveling to the Caribbean country of Haiti for a mission trip with the group Lespwa Worldwide last December during the Christmas season, Ieyoub returned to Haiti in June to assist with the relief and recovery efforts following the devastating earthquake that rocked the country earlier this year.
At home, Ieyoub is involved with Kids Hope USA, which has an ongoing project each week of the school year in which she mentors elementary school students in reading and match. She also helps the kids build self-confidence and self-esteem through her mentoring efforts.
Ieyoub also led the soccer team’s effort in the annual “Halloween BOOzar” on campus two weeks ago for which she played games and passed out candy to local children. Ieyoub is also spearheading the team’s effort with “Thanksgiving with the Tigers,” during which she will be serving food to the needy in the Baton Rouge area for Thanksgiving in just over two weeks from now.
In addition, Ieyoub serves as a soccer team representative for LSU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and is heavily involved in LSU’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
