TULSA, Okla. – LSU men’s tennis junior Neal Skupski was eliminated from the D’Novo/ITA All-American Championships singles main draw following his losses to nationally ranked opponents on Thursday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Skupski, who is ranked 31st in the country by the ITA, fell to eighth-ranked Eric Quigley of Kentucky 5-7, 1-6 in the first round of the singles main draw.

In the consolation round of the bracket, Skupski won the first set 6-4 over 41st-ranked Chris Notts of Arkansas, but he was unable to hold his momentum, dropping the final two sets 3-6, 4-6.

“Neal played really well against some tough opponents,” LSU assistant coach Danny Bryan said. “He had a lot of opportunities to win and he just wasn’t able to get it done today. We are looking forward to getting back to work and improve in different areas.”

Later in the day, Skupski and Carlsson teamed up in the doubles main draw portion of the tournament against Virginia’s Alex Dominian and Jarmere Jenkins. The Virginia duo proved to be too much, defeating the Tiger tandem 8-2.

Skupski and Carlsson will be back on the court tomorrow at 1 p.m. (CT) in the consolation bracket of the doubles main draw.
