BATON ROUGE – The LSU softball team served the Baton Rouge community and assisted St. Vincent de Paul last Friday with clothing distribution at two locations. The team spent 90 minutes at both the Staring Lane location and Plank Road store.

“Serving St. Vincent de Paul was a great experience for my teammates and myself,” senior Ashley Applegate said. “We’re blessed to represent LSU softball and show our appreciation by giving back to the Baton Rouge community that is so supportive of us.”

“As a team, we understand that we are so blessed to represent LSU in the Baton Rouge community,” junior Anissa Young said. “Jade Bryant and the CHAMPS staff do an amazing job, and I want to thank them for helping us coordinate our trip to the St. Vincent de Paul stores. Our group really enjoyed themselves.”

LSU earned a runner-up finish at the SEC Tournament en route to a 45-16 finish, its 10th season with at least 45 victories since softball was reinstated in 1997. The Tigers also reeled off a program-best 24-game winning streak and recorded their 12th NCAA Regional appearance in 2010.
