Gymnastics Team Visits Local Hospital

BATON ROUGE – The LSU gymnastics team used fall break on campus to take part in LSU’s Geaux Givers initiative to give back to the community and spend time with kids at a local children’s hospital Friday.

The team visited with and encouraged the children, and they also handed out and signed posters for the kids and their families.

“Visiting these kids really means a lot to us,” senior Samantha Engle said. “To see them laugh and smile when going through times like these really makes us appreciate what we have. The families and kids are all in such high spirits. It’s great to know we can make a child’s day just a little brighter by stopping by to chat.”

All 15 gymnasts and three managers took part in the visit to encourage the children while the team is on break from class.

“I loved going into a room and seeing the kids smile, and I believe they enjoyed our visit,” freshman Sidney Sanabria-Robles said. “Now they know the LSU gymnastics team is here to support them.”

The team will continue practice as the gymnasts gear up for the first intrasquad meet on Oct. 29 in the practice area.
