HOOVER, Ala. — LSU head coaches Trent Johnson and Van Chancellor and student-athletes Malcolm White and Katherine Graham will speak to regional and national media members on Thursday at 2010-11 Southeastern Conference Basketball Media Day at the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, Ala.
LSU is part of the final session of Tipoff 2011 and is paired with Mississippi State and Vanderbilt from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
For the first time, SEC Basketball Media Day will be streamed live at SECSports.com. The league’s official website will provide archived video and transcripts of every participant.
Johnson, Chancellor, White and Graham are scheduled to do interviews with the SEC Network, ESPN, ESPNU and Fox Sports Net that the networks will use during the season. This season represents the second year of the SEC’s 15-year milestone television agreement with ESPN.
Several media members from across the Southeast and nation will also be in attendance.
Johnson, the consensus 2009 SEC Coach of the Year, enters his third season at LSU. Chancellor, a Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer, is in his fourth year at the helm of the women’s program. Chancellor has compiled an impressive 71-27 (.724) mark in three seasons with three NCAA Tournament appearances and one Final Four.
White, a junior forward, sat out the 2009-10 season under NCAA transfer rules after coming to LSU from Ole Miss. Prior to his freshman and sophomore seasons at Ole Miss, White was a standout at St. Helena High School in Baton Rouge where he earned 2006 District 8-2A Player of the Year honors.
Graham, a native of Birmingham, is the senior leader and captain of the Lady Tigers. She averaged 8.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest as a junior. She entered the record books last season against Ole Miss with just the third triple-double in school history.
Season tickets for the men’s and women’s teams are on sale now at LSUtix.net, by phone at 1-800-960-TKTS or 225-578-2184 or in person at the LSU Athletic Ticket Office on the first floor of the LSU Athletic Administration Building.
