BATON ROUGE – After leading the LSU soccer team to a 0-0 draw with SEC West leading Alabama on Friday night and a 2-1 win over division rival Auburn on Sunday afternoon, goalkeeper Megan Kinneman became the second Tiger to receive SEC Freshman of the Week honors from the league office.
Kinneman has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week for the first time this season and is the second LSU Tiger to receive the honor after teammate Addie Eggleston was selected back on Aug. 25.
Kinneman pitched the second shutout of her rookie season against Alabama on Friday night as she kept the Crimson Tide off the scoreboard through 110 minutes of action while making four saves on the night. She followed with an outstanding performance on Sunday while making two saves in 90 minutes as LSU earned its fourth-straight victory over Auburn in the series. Auburn’s only goal came on a penalty kick.
While allowing just one goal in 200 minutes of play on the weekend, Kinneman dropped her goals against average on the season to a sparkling 0.55 GAA. She has allowed only three goals in five starts throughout 490 minutes of game action during her rookie season in 2010.
Of her three goals allowed to opponents this season, two have come on penalty kicks, including Auburn’s lone goal in Sunday’s thrilling 2-1 victory at the LSU Soccer Complex.
