BATON ROUGE – LSU soccer head coach Brian Lee announced Sunday afternoon the addition of Premier Development League veteran Brandon Gwin as a volunteer assistant coach with his staff to assist with the development of LSU’s talented group of goalkeepers for the 2010 season.
Gwin played goalkeeper himself with the PDL’s Baton Rouge Capitals during the 2007 and 2008 seasons following an outstanding high school career at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge.
Gwin recently wrapped up a five-year stint as both a junior varsity and varsity coach at Catholic High and served as the team’s goalkeeper coach from 2006-10. In addition, he has coached goalkeepers with the Baton Rouge Soccer Association for the past three years.
“We are excited that Brandon Gwin will be joining us as a volunteer assistant coach this season. He’s had an outstanding track record of developing goalkeepers at the high school and club levels, and we know he will help do the same with us here at LSU,” Lee said. “We have two outstanding goalkeepers in Mo Isom and Megan Kinneman on our roster, and we know that Brandon will help them reach their full potential.”
