BATON ROUGE – LSU men’s tennis players Sebastian Carlsson and Stefan Szacinski earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete honors, the ITA announced Thursday.

Carlsson received the honor for the third-straight year as he continues to excel both on and off the court. The Uppsala, Sweden, native notched a team-best 20 overall wins this past season while working toward a degree in biological sciences.

Szacinski made his mark as a freshman capturing 12 singles victories and 10 doubles wins in his first season with the Tigers.

“For Sebastian to maintain both his academics and athletics at such a consistent and high level for three years in a row is a great quality,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown. “Stefan also had a great first year in balancing both his academics and athletics.”

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, an athlete must be a varsity letter winner, earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 and have been enrolled in their present school for at least two semesters.
