BATON ROUGE — After earning a chance to compete in the US Open National Playoffs, former Lady Tiger Megan Falcon fell to Jessica Pegula in the first round of the tournament Thursday at the Taub Family Tennis Stadium in Palo Alto, Calif.
“It was a tough and disappointing loss for Megan, but she did well to qualify for the tournament,” said head coach Tony Minnis. “Hopefully she will continue to play well in the circuit.”
Falcon could never find momentum as Pegula took the match in straight sets 6-0, 6-4.
One of LSU’s most prolific tennis players, the Alameda, Calif., native completed her career at LSU with a 99-18 career record and was LSU’s only three-time Singles All-American. She was unanimously named to the First Team All-SEC for three consecutive seasons and was Louisiana Player of the Year for three straight years.
