STARKVILLE, Miss. – A pair of LSU softball signees, Jacee Blades and Tammy Wray, secured Louisville Slugger/NFCA High School All-Region First-Team accolades Thursday as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Both players will join the Tigers as freshmen for the 2011 season.
Blades notched Class 3A’s Most Outstanding Player award from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in June while playing for former LSU All-American Ashlee Ducote at Parkview High School. She batted .525 with six doubles and 11 RBIs as her team finished as the 3A runner-up for the third straight season.
Wray, the reigning New York Gatorade Player of the Year, owns 14 program records at Somers High School. She posted a .623 batting average to go along with 10 home runs and 34 RBIs during her senior season en route to her fifth All-Conference and fourth All-Section 1 selection.
All first-team honorees are eligible to be named to one of three 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American teams which will be announced on Friday.
