BATON ROUGE – The U.S. Open Championship returns to historic Pebble Beach Golf Links for the first time since 2000, and LSU great and PGA Tour star David Toms is among the field ready to compete this weekend as he will tee off in Thursday’s opening round at 10:39 a.m. CDT.
Toms will play in a group with Trevor Immelman and Robert Karlsson in the first round on Thursday and the second round on Friday. The group will tee off on Friday at 4:09 p.m. CDT.
Toms is making his 14th career appearance at the U.S. Open after missing the cut in last appearance a year ago. His best finish a the U.S. Open is a tie for fifth place, which he has achieved twice over the course of his outstanding career at Olympia Fields in 2003 and Oakmont Country Club in 2007.
He has earned an exemption to this year’s event after finishing in the top 30 of the final PGA Tour money list and being among the top 30 players qualifying for the season-ending Tour Championship in 2009.
