BATON ROUGE – Junior LSU men’s tennis player Sebastian Carlsson listed as a first-team selection on the CoSIDA/ ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team for District 6 released by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday.
Carlsson’s selection as first-team all-district advanced him to a place on the ballot for an opportunity to earn the national honor of ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America.
The Uppsala, Sweden, native carried a 3.87 cumulative GPA in biological sciences while notching a team-best overall 20 dual victories during the 2009-10 season. Carlsson debuted in doubles at No. 15 with Neal Skupski in ITA Rankings released on Sept. 4. and in singles at No. 97 on Jan. 5.
The Academic All-America honor is the second national honor for which Carlsson is a candidate in 2010.
Carlsson also earned the 2010 ITA Southern Region Arthur Ashe, Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship Award, which goes to a player who has exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.
Voting for the national Academic All-America Team will begin May 25 by CoSIDA members.
