BATON ROUGE – LSU sophomore standout Neal Skupski jumped to No. 34 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings released by the ITA on Tuesday. Skupski also listed in the doubles rankings with freshman Roger Anderson at No. 67, and the LSU men’s tennis team checked in at No. 46.
Skupski owns an 8-6 record over nationally-ranked opponents with his most recent victory coming against Georgia’s No. 96 Nate Schnugg on March 28, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. The Liverpool, England, native’s only loss in his last six matches was to second-ranked John Patrick Smith of Tennessee.
Skupski and Anderson are 1-4 against nationally-ranked opponents with their win notched against Florida’s 16th-ranked Antoine Benneteau and Alexandre Lacroix on March 7, 8-6. The Tiger tandem is 5-8 in overall action.
The team fell five spots to No. 46 after two tough losses to top-10 teams Ohio State (No. 3) and Georgia (No. 7). The Tigers’ next action will be two Southeastern Conference contests with No. 33 Alabama on April 2 and No. 45 Auburn on April 4.
