BATON ROUGE — After playing No. 15 Tennessee at home, the LSU women’s tennis team will travel to Athens, Ga., to face 14th-ranked Georgia at the Dan Magill Tennis Center beginning at noon CT.
“Georgia is always a tough team, and there is no difference this year,” said head coach Tony Minnis. “If we want to make a run in the NCAA Tournament, we’re going to have to win this match. We need to come out and keep improving every match.”
Georgia (9-4, 5-0 SEC) is fresh-off of defeating No. 22 Arkansas, 5-2, while LSU is looking to bounce back after falling to the Lady Vols, 5-2.
LSU (6-11, 1-4 SEC) is led by freshman Keri Frankenberger who rides a four-match win streak with a 6-3 dual record in the No. 4 position.
The Lady Bulldogs are higlighted by two ranked individuals in No. 13 Chelsey Gullickson and No. 25 Nadja Gilchrist. In doubles Gullickson and Gilchrist make up the ninth-ranked pair in the nation while Yvette Hyndman and Naoko Ueshima list as No. 72.
The two teams met last season in Baton Rouge as UGA took the match, 4-2.
Georgia leads the overall series against the Lady Tigers, 31-1.
