BATON ROUGE – The LSU men’s tennis team will host the seventh-ranked Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday in a Southeastern Conference match slated for 11 a.m. CT in W. T. “Dub” Robinson Stadium.

“Georgia is one of our oldest rivals, and we were two of the best teams in the conference for years,” LSU head coach Jeff Brown said. “It’s always a tough match, and if we can win this match, it will bring us one step closer to being in the top-25 again.”

LSU (5-9, 2-3 SEC) enters the match after a tough loss on March 23 to third-ranked Ohio State, 4-2. After failing to capture the doubles point, LSU kicked off singles by taking two courts, but OSU fought back, claiming three matches and leaving one unfinished as the Tigers narrowly fell, 4-2.

Neal Skupski continues to lead LSU at the top court and in the rankings at No. 46 with a 5-5 record. Sophomore Mark Bowtell leads the team in dual wins with an 8-5 record and splits time between courts four and five.

In doubles, Skupski teams up with Roger Anderson to hold the most dual wins at 5-8.

The Bulldogs (13-4, 5-0 SEC) are represented by two players in the national rankings in No. 18 Javier Garrapiz and No. 96 Nate Schnugg, each with a 9-7 dual record.

Schnugg and Jamie Hunt represent UGA’s 39th-ranked duo at 8-6 on court one.

The trip to Baton Rouge marks the first match on the road for the Bulldogs after six-matches at home with a 4-2 record. In UGA’s last match, the team fell to third-ranked Ohio State, also by a 4-2 mark.

Georgia is one of the only conference teams to hold an all-time record against LSU, 40-14.

Admittance to Sunday’s match is free and will be the final match for the 2009-10 Club Challenge as well as part of the 2010 Fraternity-Sorority Challenge.  If LSU succeeds in getting 300 fans to the “Dub” on Sunday, the team will throw out 20 shirts to the crowd between doubles and singles.
