BATON ROUGE — The LSU volleyball team forges ahead in its spring season with four matches Saturday at the Florida State Invitational.
The Tigers compiled a 2-2 mark highlighted by a pair of wins over 2009 NCAA Tournament squads Rice and Wichita State at the 5th Annual Texas Tornados College Spring Tournament last weekend.
LSU squares off against Auburn, Georgia Southern, Florida State and a Florida State alumni squad inside of Tully Gym. The Seminoles were an Elite 8 participant last season.
“This tournament will provide another great opportunity for us to continue to improve,” head coach Fran Flory said. “The competition will once again be outstanding, and we’ll be challenged to play on a very efficient level. We look for our young players to continue to build on the start we had last weekend in Houston. I expect we will be able to take another positive step this weekend.”
LSU put together an impressive 25-7 record in 2009 en route to the program’s first SEC regular season title since 1991. Under Flory, the defending five-time SEC Western Division champions are one of only 20 programs in the nation to appear in the last five NCAA Tournaments.
