BATON ROUGE — For her outstanding efforts against in-state rival Tulane, Keri Frankenberger of the LSU women’s tennis team was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week by the league office Wednesday.
The honor marks the first time the Lady Tiger has been named freshman of the week.
The Gainesville, Fla., native partnered with Hannah Robinson to take down the Green Wave’s Lindsay Dvorak and Emma Helisten 8-4 on court two to put LSU in a position to clinch a crucial doubles point.
In singles, Frankenberger faced Dvorak again as the freshman took down the Green Wave player in an impressive three-set win 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 on court four to clinch her second overall match of the season. The freshman extended her win streak to three.
The Lady Tigers will take the courts again Friday when they face No. 15 Tennessee at W.T. “Dub” Robinson Stadium beginning at 3 p.m. CT.
