BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team lost to Tulsa by a 6-1 decision Tuesday in Tulsa, Okla., at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
“Tulsa played a solid match today. We did a very poor job today and let the win affect us. That’s something you have to adjust to when competing,” said head coach Tony Minnis. “All credit to Tulsa. They played a great match”
Tulsa (14-5, 2-1 C-USA) took the early lead as it claimed the doubles point. Court three finished first as Nicole Kantor and Kylie Adamek fell to Michelle Farley and Rebecca Row 8-2. Anastasia Erofeeva and Ewa Szatkowska took their match against Keri Frankenberger and Hannah Robinson 8-3 on court two.
The Golden Hurricane completed the doubles sweep on court one where No. 35 JoAnne Karaitiana and Alexandra Kichoutkin beat Whitney Wolf and Kaitlin Burns in a close match 8-7(4).
LSU (7-9, 1-3 SEC) bounced right back in singles as Frankenberger ousted Szatkowska 6-2, 6-1 on court four to give the Lady Tigers their only point of the match.
Lady Tiger Wolf fell to 95th-ranked Kichoutkin on court one 6-3, 6-0. Adamek dropped her match to Farley on court six 6-2, 6-1.
Golden Hurricane Row clinched the overall match against Ebie Wilson on court five. Kantor fell short to Erofeeva on court three 6-2, 6-4.
On court two, Burns gave great effort but was unable to upend Karaitiana as she provided the sixth point for the Golden Hurricane 6-3, 4-6, 1-0(8).
The Lady Tigers will return to Southeastern Conference action Friday as they play host to No. 15 Tennessee at 3 p.m. CT.
