BATON ROUGE – The No. 14 LSU softball team caps a critical SEC week as Auburn visits Tiger Park. Both Saturday’s doubleheader and Sunday’s single game begin at 1 p.m.

Prior to Friday’s practice, Jessica Mouse stopped by to share some thoughts on Alumnae Weekend.

“Hey Tiger Fans –

We’re very excited about alumnae weekend at Tiger Park because they mean so much to our team. We all knew the day we signed our letter of intent to play at LSU that we were going to have the opportunity to be a part of something great.  The tradition and fan support is like no other.

Our alumnae have won numerous SEC championships and gone to the College World Series to build our program to what it is today. We now play in the best stadium in the country and have the top notch facilities because of their hard work and dedication. I will always thank the alumnae for what they have done to get us where we are today. They were the ones that started our winning tradition, and we are so proud that our team has the chance to carry on that great tradition on every time we take the field.

It’s an honor to put on the LSU jersey and an even bigger honor to represent former Tigers who have worn the same one. Former Tigers have taught us to never give up no matter what the circumstances and to believe in what we work on a day-to-day basis at practice. Fighting together as a whole will get us further than fighting alone.

Our team always enjoys welcoming the alumnae back because we always share stories and even look to them for advice. The alumnae game during the fall was a start to a new tradition. This game wasn’t only competitive, but it was also fun to joke with former All-Americans and All-SEC players.

I know that I’ll look forward to the alumnae game when I graduate because that means that I’ll get to come back to a wonderful crowd, a fantastic facility but more importantly being able to spend time with our LSU softball family. It also is great to get everyone back together and remember the memorable times we had with one another.

I think our team will be remembered for the heart and passion we bring to each game we play. This is something that we know we can control as a group and it will allow us to play “our” game.  I wouldn’t want to be a part of any other team but LSU. The alumnae have blessed us with a well known name in the softball world and we plan to do everything we can to keep that tradition going!

Join us this weekend as we play Auburn and help us honor our alumnae with a full Tiger Park.

Geaux Tigers,

Jessica
