BATON ROUGE – LSU senior forward Tasmin Mitchell was named a National Association of Basketball Coaches First-Team All-District selection announced Tuesday by the NABC.
The district teams were selected and voted on by members coaches of the NABC and the 240 student-athletes from 24 first team districts, are eligible for the State Farm Division I All-America teams, to be announced on April 3 during the NABC Convention.
Mitchell is joined on the District 21 team by DeMarcus Cousins and John Wall of Kentucky, Devan Downey of South Carolina and Jarvis Varnado of Mississippi State. On the second team are Jermaine Beal and A. J. Ogilvy of Vanderbilt, Wayne Chism of Tennessee, Patrick Patterson of Kentucky and Trey Thompkins of Georgia.
Mitchell, who was named second-team All-SEC by both the league coaches and the Associated Press media voters, averaged 16.8 points and 9.4 rebounds. He finished as the school’s third all-time leading scorer and sixth leading rebounders, also finishing in the top 10 in field goals made, steals and assists.
