BATON ROUGE – The LSU gymnastics team checked in at No. 11 in the latest standings released by GymInfo Monday after cracking the 197 barrier for the first time this season with a 197.150 against Iowa.
LSU’s team score versus Iowa was the nation’s highest last week, and the Tigers raised their regional qualifying score nearly a tenth to 196.200.
Alabama was idle last week but remained No. 1 with a 197.155 RQS. Oklahoma stayed at No. 2 with a 196.935 RQS, followed by UCLA at 196.900, Georgia at 196.690 and Florida at 196.685 to round out the top five.
Arkansas remained sixth with a 196.510 RQS, and Oregon State (196.460), Stanford (196.450), Utah (196.275) and Michigan (196.215) made up the bottom half of the top 10.
Auburn checked in at No. 17 with a 195.675 score while Kentucky was 18th at 195.600 as every Southeastern Conference team remained in the top 25 since the season began.
In the team event rankings, LSU (7-4-1) jumped four spots to No. 8 in the vault standings with a 49.230 RQS while the Tigers stayed at No. 8 on bars (49.140), No. 10 on beam (48.990) and No. 15 on floor (49.050).
In the individual rankings, Susan Jackson dropped one spot to No. 2 in the all-around with a 39.555 RQS as Missouri’s Sarah Shire took over the top spot with a 39.570 score. Jackson had been ranked No. 1 for eight straight weeks.
Jackson was ranked No. 1 on vault with a 9.940 RQS, No. 5 on bars at 9.90, No. 12 on beam at 9.870 and No. 17 on floor at 9.895.
Summer Hubbard fell four spots to No. 16 in the bars rankings although her RQS remained the same at 9.875.
LSU will travel to Shreveport Friday to take on Centenary at 6 p.m. in the Gold Dome in the Tigers final meet before the SEC Championship.
