VALDOSTA, Ga. – The 20th-ranked LSU Lady Tigers are in contention late in the second round of the two-day Kinderlou Forest Challenge Monday at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge.

The 36-hole first day of the 54-hole tournament was delayed at the start by frost warnings and darkness suspended play at 5:30 p.m. with all 18-teams still on the course.

With the scores entered in the computer, Tulane is the on-course leader at three-over par with Tennessee second at eight-over followed by Ohio State at 10-over and LSU fourth at 12-over. Unofficially, LSU has some holes played not in the computer that has the Tigers down to eight-over par.

The Lady Tigers will play the final five holes of the round Tuesday morning and then the final 18 holes will follow.

Megan McChrystal and Tessa Teachman are each at even par through 30 holes and one shot out of a three-way tie for first at one-under par.  McChrystal shot an even-par 73 in the first round (three par 5s and par 37 on the final nine holes), while Teachman shot a one-over 74 in the first 18 holes. Jacqueline Hedwall posted a 75 and Amalie Valle in her first tournament back in the spring was at four-over 77.  Hedwall was in a group tied for 13th.

“It was a good day for us,” said LSU Coach Karen Bahnsen. “We were playing good when we stopped and some of the scores not entered in the computer put us much closer than we are listed. We look forward to getting back out there in the morning and seeing how it all plays out.”

LSU posted a seven over 299 in the first round that was completed six-shots back of Tulane’s one over 293 in the morning 18. Florida was in second after the first round but had dropped back to fifth when the round was halted. Ohio State had made the big move in the afternoon after shooting a 10-over 302, standing at even through 12 holes in the afternoon round.

The second round is set to resume at 7:30 a.m. and live scoring will be available through LSUsports.net through Golfstat.com.
