BATON ROUGE – LSU’s Ashley Langoni and Northwestern State’s Kylie Roos picked up Louisiana Sports Writers Association [LSWA] Softball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week accolades Tuesday as voted upon by the state’s sports information directors.
A sophomore outfielder for the Tigers, Langoni posted a .500 batting average, three home runs and nine RBIs sparked by a trio of multi-hit efforts en route to Wilson/DeMarini Tiger Classic All-Tournament Team honors. The Colorado native matched a career-best with four RBIs against Virginia in the championship game and ignited a six-run rally with a two-run homer during the fourth inning against Oklahoma State.
A freshman hurler for the Lady Demons, Roos also notched Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week accolades after compiling a 3-0 mark highlighted by complete victories over UAB and Belmont. She struck out 19 batters against only three walks over 17 innings of work and limited opponents to a .200 hitting clip.
It’s the first weekly award from the LSWA for both players.
