BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team listed at No. 37 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings on Tuesday prior to the Tigers’ home-opener scheduled for Thursday night.
The Tigers fell only two spots in the rankings after falling to top-ranked Virginia, an east-coast matchup that dropped LSU’s record to 0-4 on the season.
LSU looks to end its skid against in-state rivals with a home-opener on Thursday in which the Tigers will take on UL-Lafayette at 3 p.m. and New Orleans at 7 p.m.
For the sixth-straight time since the rankings began being released on Jan. 5, each of the 12 Southeastern Conference teams listed in the polls.
Tennessee led the way for the conference at the No. 2 spot, followed by Florida (No. 6), Kentucky (No. 8), and Georgia completed the top-10 at No. 9.
The remainder of the ranked conference teams was Ole Miss (No. 11), Alabama (No. 28) and Auburn (No. 35). Vanderbilt checked in behind LSU at No. 39, South Carolina at No. 42, Arkansas at No. 53 and Mississippi State at No. 54.
