Sophomore right-hander Joey Bourgeois delivered a magnificent performance in his LSU debut, firing six shutout innings in the Tigers’ 4-0 win over Centenary on Sunday … Bourgeois, a transfer from LSU-Eunice, allowed just four hits with no walks and seven strikeouts in a 78-pitch outing …. Bourgeois combined with relievers Jordan Rittiner and Paul Bertuccini on a six-hit shutout of the Gents.

Senior designated hitter Matt Gaudet batted .600 (6-for-10) in LSU’s three-game sweep of Centenary last weekend with one double, two homers, six RBI and three runs … Gaudet launched two homers in the Tigers’ 25-8 win on Saturday, marking the first multi-HR game of his LSU career .. he delivered a clutch seventh-inning RBI single on Sunday, expanding LSU’s lead to 2-0 in the eventual 4-0 win.

LSU coach Paul Mainieri earned the 1,000th win in his collegiate career when the Tigers defeated Centenary 25-8 on Saturday … Mainieri is in his 28th season as a college coach with six seasons at St. Thomas University in Miami (1993-88), six seasons at Air Force (1989-94), 12 seasons at Notre Dame (1995-2006) and four seasons at LSU (2007-present) … his overall record after the Tigers’ three-game sweep of Centenary over the weekend now stands at 1,001-554-7 (.643) … LSU’s season opener on Friday versus Centenary was played before a school-record crowd of 9,914 in Alex Box Stadium; the paid attendance figure for the game of 11,588 was also a school record … sophomore right-hander Joey Bourgeois delivered a magnificent performance in his LSU debut, firing six shutout innings the Tigers’ 4-0 win over Centenary on Sunday … Bourgeois, a transfer from LSU-Eunice, allowed just four hits with no walks and seven strikeouts in a 78-pitch outing ….senior designated hitter Matt Gaudet batted .600 (6-for-10) in LSU’s three-game sweep of Centenary last weekend with one double, two homers, six RBI and three runs … Gaudet launched two homers in the Tigers’ 25-8 win on Saturday, marking the first multi-HR game of his LSU career … LSU first baseman Blake Dean tied his single-game career-high with six RBI in the Tigers’ win over Centenary on Saturday … the senior from Crestview, Fla. was 4-for-6 in the contest and he scored two runs … Dean batted .417 (5-for-12) in the three-game series with one homer and a team-best eight RBI … junior right-hander Austin Ross earned the victory on Saturday versus Centenary, firing five shutout innings … Ross allowed just three hits with no walks and five strikeouts … junior all-American right-hander Anthony Ranaudo also enjoyed an impressive 2010 debut, working five innings against Centenary on Friday … Ranaudo allowed just one unearned run on one hit with two walks and six strikeouts … LSU’s starting rotation of Ranaudo, Ross and Bourgeois did not allow an earned run in the series in 16 innings of work … the 25-8 win over Centenary on Saturday marked the most runs scored by an LSU team since 1999, when the Tigers defeated Ohio 26-5.
